Carytown Optical Eyecare Boutique is an authorized dealer of Costa Del Mar Sunglasses in Richmond, Virginia. Costa Del Mar Sunglasses, Inc. is a designer and manufacturer of high-end polarized sunglasses for water sports such as fishing, sailing, and surfing. Costa Del Mar Sunglasses was established in 1983 and is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Born on the water in 1983, they made Costa sunglasses for those who need water to breathe. Built with 580® color-enhancing polarized lenses, Costa sunglasses enhance your ability to “See What’s Out There”.
In 1983, a group of hardcore fishermen who spent their days exploring the globe and battling extreme elements realized that the sunglasses they were relying on weren’t as hardcore as their adventures. They needed to see the world in absolute clarity and protect their eyes. When they couldn’t find decent sunglasses, they chose to make their own. Hence, Costa was born and after all these years their mission never wavered: to create the clearest sunglasses on the planet for life’s great adventures.
Engineered with 580® color-enhancing polarized lenses (RX available) and high-performance, adventure-ready frames, Costa sunglasses enhance one’s ability to “See What’s Out There”. They manufacture the lenses in three different materials: CR-39, Glass, and Polycarbonate. Each of these lenses offers unique attributes directed to durability, optical clarity, and scratch resistance. Every lens made by Costa Del Mar is 100% polarized and offers 100% UVA, UVB, and UVC protection.
Costa Del Mar offers two quality lenses. They offer the Costa 400 lens in all three lens materials, and it eliminates glare at the 400-nanometer mark. This provides for sharper vision and reduces strain on eyes. The Costa 580 is Costa Del Mar’s premium lens collection. They introduced it in August 2000 and this lens eliminates glare at the 580-nanometer mark. It substantially reduces the amount of yellow light that passes through the lens; yellow light is the hardest light for the eye to deal with. This nearly eliminates glare, allowing enhanced color saturation and definition. The 580 lenses were only available in glass, but today they are also available in polycarbonate.
Selected frame styles also come with C-Mates (a bi-focal lens). Currently offered in the +1.75 and +2.50 magnification levels. They can customize Costa Del Mar sunglasses with prescription lenses. They produce all Costa Del Mar’s lenses in Florida and assemble them with frames from either Japan, Italy, France, Mauritius, China, or Taiwan. Their headquarters and repair center are in Daytona Beach, Florida.
