The Kame ManNen frames are beautiful, yet simple and lean.

KameManNen has won the hearts of people all over the world with an aesthetic eyewear design that remains unaffected by fast-paced fashion trends. They nominated the KameManNen frame designs for the SILMO d’Or Awards, a prestigious award that is described as the Academy Award for the eyewear world.

Kame ManNen Eyewear is entirely handcrafted to this day in a modern Fukui facility in Japan with care and painstaking attention to detail. The aim is to create superior eyewear that is reasonably priced and that will last much longer.

Kame ManNen Eyewear History and Eyewear Approach

Kame Mannen Co., Ltd. was established in Japan in 1917 and has always been on the cutting edge of new material technology, selecting the best functional design for high usability. It is no coincidence that the name and the symbol come from a Japanese proverb “turtles live for ten thousand years”; meaning the Kame Mannen collection shall be a timeless one.

KameManNen is said to be the oldest eyewear brand in Japan. It started in 1917 in the city of Fukui, with a plating factory called “Kimura Seisakusho”. After the Second World War, they developed this into an eyewear factory based in Sabae. In 1981, KameManNen successfully used titanium to produce eyewear for the first time. Titanium is known for its durability and lightness and is ideal for quality eyewear.

What KameManNen value the most in making eyewear is “production of durable products that will be loved for a long period of time”. This is the strong aspiration of the founder, Kikujiro Kimura. Therefore, KameManNen eyewear undergoes a series of extremely time-consuming manufacturing processes. The KameManNen’s eyewear collection does not comprise many colors since metal plating and ion plating are utilized in their process of determining the frame colors. Ion plating is a type of surface treatment that is very labor intensive but produces extremely durable finishes that aid them in attaining the quality that they aspire.
