Carytown Optical is an authorized and trusted Kirk & Kirk Eyewear merchant in Richmond, Virginia. Kirk & Kirk provides “Boldly Expressive Eyewear for Creative Individuals” bringing 100 years of optical knowledge and craftsmanship to every frame.
Jason and Karen Kirk have created an eyewear experience that is authentic, inspirational, and confident, just like the people who wear them. Handcrafted in France, the Kirk & Kirk unique acrylic frames are super-light and notably comfortable. They manufacture their own original frame material in colors that are often imitated, but impossible to duplicate. Their designs have won distinguished awards and plaudits across the eyewear profession and the media. The Kirk & Kirk team has been profiled in The Guardian and 20/20 Magazine.
At its core, Kirk & Kirk is a family business with optical passion coursing through their veins and integrity and pride in every frame they make.
The Kirk family has been pioneers in optics since Sidney and Percy Kirk founded Kirk Brothers in 1919. Jason Kirk grew up surrounded by optics. He runs the business side of Kirk & Kirk, regularly visiting their factory in France for in-person quality audits. Karen studied design in London and turned to optics when she was working for Saatchi & Saatchi. Inspired by a deep family tradition and a desire to bring something new to the eyewear market, Jason and Karen Kirk introduced the Kirk & Kirk eyewear line in 2013.
It was an immediate success, and their frames today are ever-present on the red carpet and sold in over 40 countries. The Kirk & Kirk brand represents an optics legacy of more than a century, while keeping an eye on the future and possibilities waiting to be imagined. Jason and Karen believe that every collection that they create should bring something fresh to the market. Their Kaleidoscope collection offers a multitude of colors and dimensions that cannot be duplicated. The Centena collection is the only 10mm thick acrylic eyewear frame construction in the world.
Kirk & Kirk develops their own acrylic material that is manufactured in Italy and used to produce all their frames. The Italian acrylic is extremely light and durable frame material that, uniquely, does not lose adjustment or stretch out over time. Kirk & Kirk uses German five-barreled hinges that add strength to the eyeglass frame structure. An infinite array of frame colors is possible through acrylic. This is not possible using acetate, the traditional material for eyewear.
Kirk & Kirk designs all frames in England. From start to finish, they craft all frames in one factory in France. This allows them to maintain and trace quality. Made In France has consistently been a symbol of perfection in the optical savvy community.
